Grayson County VFW Post 7726 and the Naval Reserve Military Funeral Honors Unit paid respects April 20 conducting military rites at the Blue Ridge Veterans Memorial for U.S. Navy veteran Rufus Von Cheek. Post Commander Dan Boyer and Chaplain Tommy Nichols conducted the service. The Honor Guard provided a 21-gun salute and “Taps” was played. The U.S. flag was presented to David Cheek, son of the deceased.
